Dear Church Family,

I like to listen to what we call today “motivational speakers.” I like to read things from them. I subscribe to a couple that I really like. Of course the greatest “motivator” of all was the Lord Jesus Christ. No one can equal His inspiration. Probably because no one else on God’s green earth can not only match His words but also bring it to pass! Just like it says in 1 Thessalonians 5:24; “The One who calls you is faithful, and He will do it.”

So, here are some other positive thoughts from Jon Gordon to energize your day.

  • Mondays are a great day to focus on what we GET TO do instead of what we HAVE TO do. Life is a gift, not an obligation.
  • There’s nothing more powerful than a humble person with a warrior spirit who is driven by a bigger purpose. Be that person today.
  • Failure is not meant to define you, it’s meant to refine you. Remember, sometimes you have to lose a goal to find your destiny.
  • Don’t let the negativity bring you down today. Focus on the positive. This doesn’t mean we ignore the challenges, it means we work to overcome them. We rise above the drama. We don’t listen to the lies of fear and doubt. We choose to be a positive influence on those around us.
  • Three things you control every day are your ATTITUDE…your EFFORT…and your ACTIONS. It doesn’t matter what others are doing or who you think is being unfair. Every day you can focus on being positive, working hard and making others around you better.

On-Line Services:

Well the technology “gremlins” showed up this past Sunday. Terri had a “devil” of a time (pun intended) getting the message uploaded and then downloaded to Facebook. But we learned some things and consequently she has created a channel on YouTube. In the future she will post a link on the church’s Facebook page to the church’s YouTube channel. And if possible she will also post it on the Facebook page. The YouTube channel can be found at: Bowling Green Baptist Church, Virginia. Just open up the YouTube site and type in that address and it will take you to the channel. We’ll continue to post that message by 9:30am each Sunday morning.

Future of the CWS: My hope and prayer is that we will be able to re-constitute the CWS once we locate and hire a new worship pastor and identify volunteers who can assist with the A/V requirements. Please pray for our Personnel Committee co-chairs as they lead out in the effort of finding a new worship pastor.

Re-gathering in our facility: It’s now been over a month since we temporarily halted our on-site worship services. We continue to monitor the status of the virus in our region and will “follow the science” and recommendations from our health professionals. Additionally, we will make sure that our own worship leaders, volunteers and attendees feel safe and comfortable coming back to church before we restart our worship services.

Church Family News

Congratulations to:

  • Shelby Foltz on the birth of her son, Witten Ridge, born Wednesday, February 17, (8 lbs. 4 ozs.)
  • Stephanie Sadler on the birth of her daughter, Ruby Kate, born on Thursday, February 18, (7lbs. 5 ozs.)

Remember in prayer:

  1. Sherry Brillhart’s Brother, please pray for PAUL as he has had a medical setback.
  2. Pastor Frank’s brother, Scott, recovery and good report from a cancer diagnosis.
  3. Lisa Shields, recovery from a recent medical procedure and a pending procedure.
  4. All those in our congregation known and unknown who need prayers for a variety of issues.
  5. All our frontline workers, in and out of our church, who work hard each day serving and protecting us during this pandemic.

NOTE: With a temporary return to on-line services there is bound to be a lag in giving. So this is just a friendly reminder that you can still drop off or mail your tithes and offerings to the church. But, why do that when all you have to do is enroll in “E-giving” through REALM and have your donation automatically deducted each week. It’s simple, safe, and private. So, save a stamp and some of your time and enroll now.

I love you all,

Pastor Frank
