Dear Church Family,

While serving in Japan with the Navy, I noticed that the people of Japan have some strange tastes in food. It’s been interesting over the years to watch how Americans have adopted some of those tastes. Sushi and Japanese restaurants have sprung up all over the USA. And yet while many Americans have acquired a taste for sushi, I haven’t met many who have tasted or like shark-fin soup. It is popular in Japan and a delicacy. A bowl of shark-fin soup in Japan can cost you as much as $100. Ever wonder how people develop such a taste? Simple – they eat it, and by eating it come to like it.

Matthew 5:6 says if you want to be satisfied, you need to hunger and thirst after the righteous character of God. I think this means to be close enough so His character grows in you. How can you develop this hunger? By taking time to be with God in reading His Word and prayer. At first that may seem a little strange. Not natural or comfortable. But stay with it, and one day when you don’t have time for prayer and bible reading, you’ll come to the end of the day and instead of feeling guilty about a duty not done, you will feel hungry for time with God missed.

So, spend time with God. Just 10 minutes a day is a good start. Do this for 90 days and see if you don’t develop a taste that leads to hunger for God. By the way…shark-fin soup isn’t so bad after all.

Re-gathering:

BIG NEWS….starting this Sunday, March 14, we will be meeting for morning worship at 10am in the sanctuary. We are also working on providing a broadcast of the service over a FM receiver which you can receive in your parked car in the parking lot. This worship service will continue each Sunday until further notice.

EASTER:

We are also are planning an Easter service on April 4th at 11am in the sanctuary. It will look like recent past Easter services with special music from the choir, hymns sung by the congregation, and a short message all with the intent to celebrate the most powerful force the world has ever seen: the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Deacons are also considering hosting a sunrise service, so stay tuned for details.
